 FRESNO SECTIONAL FEBRUARY 11-14
Once again it’s time for the winter sectional. It’s not too late to get your partners and teams together. If you can’t get it together, call partnership chairman Jackie Finn at 559-435-0858. We have new times for the Thursday games – 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. for both open and 499er pair games. Friday and Saturday repeat last year’s schedule of 10 am and 3 p.m. for open and 499er sections. The one exception is Saturday morning – with a 199er game instead of 499er game. Newcomers with fewer than 10 master points play free Saturday morning. Friday night at 7:30 is our fast pairs. We should be done with that by 9:30 or so.

Scott Campbell from southern California is our tournament director. Tournament chairman Laura Da Costa plans the events, including the new times for Thursday. Jackie Finn is hospitality chairman, who plans the Sunday lunch and refreshments throughout the tournament. We are grateful for our members who donate refreshments for the tournament. There will be sign-up sheets at the bridge center so that we’ll have refreshments for every session. Come to the tournament and have a great time!

PRO-AM SWISS TEAMS February 28
Join us for a pot luck lunch at noon, followed by a fun-filled Pro-Am Swiss team game at 1 pm. For Pro Am teams, we divide the players into four groups, according to master points. Then we draw one from each group to make a team. That gives everyone a chance, since all the team are about equal. Plus, you get to play with a few new partners. It's fun!

UNIT NEWS

Secretary:                    Kay Chrisman
Treasurer:                    Don Austin

Some of the appointments are:

Charity:                       Mary Lou Pease

We’re starting a new cell phone policy at the bridge center. If your cell phone rings during the game, you must make a $1 donation to the unit, unless it’s some sort of emergency or urgent message. This also applies to personal calls to the bridge center’s phone. Calls for bridge club business are exempt. Please put your phone on vibrate, or off during play. If your purse contains a phone, the same rules apply. Please note that this policy is similar to bridge tournament policy – there is a penalty at all bridge tournaments if the director confirms that your phone rang during play. This policy applies to all Unit games, and may apply to other games.
